School system and theocracy in Cyprus and Greece

Cyprus: Government-provided school resources said atheists are "without moral inhibitions", and children are told: "Let’s avoid atheism so we can stay away from their bad and sinful consequences." (Humanists International)
This is what children in Cyprus, among them ethnic Hellenes, have to deal with. But not only in Cyprus, but also in Greece where it is "normal" for theocrats to get involved in educational policy. Some may call it "education," many of us call it catechesis. They not only teach children that atheists are "without moral," but also that their ancestors were "pagans," "idolaters," blinded by "idolatry" and saved by the "true god" via his apostles. I know of a case in Greece where the principal (who was also the religion teacher) told the children that our world is ruled by "satanists." Even today regular church attendance and morning prayers are integral parts of Greek school system. These brainwashing programs must be shut down, for they may fulfill Article 16 of Greek constitution ("the development of national and religious consciousness") but also destroy the seeds of reason and undermine "their [the children's] formation as free and responsible citizens," thus preserving theocracy. The results of this absurd situation can be observed in modern day Greece. The only way out of this dilemma is secularization, which means a) strict separation of church and state and b) religious freedom.
